How Dental Implants Work:

Dental implants are a revolutionary solution for replacing missing teeth. A small titanium post is surgically placed into the jawbone, acting as a sturdy anchor. Over time, the bone naturally fuses with the implant, creating a strong foundation. An abutment is then attached to the implant, which connects the replacement tooth – a custom-made crown. This mimics the natural tooth structure, providing a secure, functional, and aesthetically pleasing solution that restores your smile’s beauty and your confidence.

What does the process look like?

First, surgery is performed to place the anchor. Surgery can take up to several hours, and up to six months may be required for the bone to grow around the anchor to firmly hold it in place. Some implants require a second surgery where a post is attached and the anchor connects a replacement tooth. With other implants, the anchor and post are already attached and are placed at the same time.

After the gums have had several weeks to heal, the next step begins. The artificial teeth are made and fitted to the post portion of the anchor. Because several fittings may be required, this step can take one to two months to complete.
